Lack of funding felt in high school theater programs

Bloomington High School South 2016 graduate Lindsey Bomba wrote reviews for the theater program in her freshman year. Now a 21-year-old IU senior, Bomba considers her BHSS theater experiences to be some of the most important in her education.

“I learned how to appreciate different things in life from a different perspective,” she said. “I’ve learned confidence and expression from being involved in the arts.”

IU graduate Mallory Elver finds career in Bloomington arts

In Elver’s world, Bloomington is a constant overlap of performing and visual arts. She paused for a moment and then used one word to describe the world she has dedicated her life to – “eclectic.”

Bloomington residents hesitant to talk with IU student in blistering heat

Experiences in reporting can vary from person to person and story to story. For me, interviewing complete strangers on the street was challenging in many ways. However, the lessons I learned while completing the assignment will carry into my career.

In many journalism classes at Indiana University, interviews are part of the curriculum. Proper interview etiquette and preparation, as well as crafting thought provoking questions that engage the subject are a mandatory part of how we conduct interviews.

Bloomington prefers live music for entertainment

Bloomington residents said the best form of entertainment in the area is live music, according to four informal interviews on Kirkwood Avenue from Oct. 2, 2019 to Oct. 4, 2019.
All locals interviewed agreed that live music is one of the best entertainment options Bloomington has to offer.

Bio: Marin Pisani

Marin Pisani
Marin Pisani is a junior at Indiana University majoring in journalism with a concentration in news writing. She is also minoring in sociology. Marin was recently hired as an intern at the Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism for the fall semester. In the spring, Marin will study abroad in New Zealand. She enjoys traveling, watching movies, and doing puzzles. After graduating in 2021, Marin hopes to pursue a career in global research and investigative journalism for a variety of social issues.
