Bloomington citizens’ choices in gyms depend on their personal preferences

Adam Decker, a 24 year-old law student, values the importance of fitness. Every morning, Monday through Friday, he gathers his workout gear and drives 25 minutes to lift weights.

Decker, who regularly works out at Planet Fitness, said he can’t afford to take classes at other gyms. Planet Fitness is the cheapest option in Bloomington for him.

Lannie Pullon’s fitness studio impacts exercise in Bloomington

Lannie Pullon rolled up the sleeves of his sweater as he divulged the details of living a fit life. In his small-scale studio, he provides yoga mats, dumbbells and a bench press for his boot camp and personal training sessions. Photographs of weight-loss successes and whiteboards detailing clients’ personal accomplishments adorn the walls.
After graduating from Bloomington South in 1995, while working at Walmart, a friend invited him to powerlift.

Bio: Taylor Shimp

Taylor Shimp
Taylor Shimp is a senior at IU majoring in media production with a concentration in cinema and media studies, a specialization in journalism, and a minor in folklore and ethnomusicology. She works for Radio-Television Services where she assists on PBS studio productions such as “The Friday Zone” and “Indiana Newsdesk”, as well as university sporting events like volleyball, soccer and football. In her free time, Taylor enjoys reading, watching basketball and exercising. You’ll often find her running, strength training or even kickboxing. She hopes her passion for living a healthy lifestyle inspires others to meet their own personal fitness goals.
