IU students cautious of returning to previous music habits

IU students are still wary of going out and resuming their normal entertainment practices, even as cases continue to decrease across the state and country. Students Braydon Rantz, Andromeda Mendez, and Zade Dohan provided their insight around IU’s campus on Feb. 22. 

The big picture: Since COVID-19 arrived in the U.S. over a year ago, certain individuals have returned to their previous entertainment practices, but others still have concerns about participating in large gatherings.

Reporting in a pandemic is more challenging – and rewarding – than ever

I was taught a long time ago that approaching strangers on the street was a bad idea. Almost everyone is taught that as a young child and in the midst of an airborne pandemic, it is almost impossible to talk to someone you don’t know, especially about a topic as depressing as COVID-19. 

However, the conversations I did have, after more time asking people than I’m willing to admit, were rewarding. Having the social interaction that a reporter would have in normal times with students to get their opinions was important.

Bio: Aiden Kantner

Aiden Kantner
Aiden Kantner is a junior at Indiana University studying sports media. He is currently a beat reporter for the Indiana Daily Student, covering the IU baseball team. Kantner has also covered the field hockey and men’s swimming teams in his time at the IDS, as well as serving as the national sports columnist. He is from Greenwood, Indiana, where he graduated from Center Grove High School with an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts.
