I really enjoyed certain parts of this assignment. This was something I had never done before and I am grateful to have had this experience. It took some adjusting from shooting in daylight like normal but I would say that by the end of this shoot I was feeling fairly confident in my abilities. One thing that I tend to over focus on when doing assignments like this is making sure I meet all of the criteria exactly. This is obviously beneficial to the end product of this specific project, however I believe it has gotten me in the wrong mindset when going into a shoot in the past. For this shoot I tried not to think about the specific photos in the moment and just shooting good quality photos with a variety of compositions. I found this to be a much more enjoyable experience in the end. And when I went back and edited them I was able to go through and evaluate which photos met which criteria and why. As for these photos individually, I believe they represent their captions very well. The first one, a layered shot is fairly obvious. I used the people standing around to create some front layering and the buildings for the background. The second photo was using the telephoto, as was the first, but I felt this one displayed the telephoto abilities a but more because of the compressed distance in the background. The next one is a bit more abstract but I really like this one because of the energy it conveys. it is a wide shot taken from above and you are able to see all of the movement happening. It would have been better is you could see more of the drum line though. The next one represents rhythm from chapter 2. I chose this part of the chapter because of the way the drums are laid out. They create a pattern much like the people did in the photo about rhythm in the chapter. I also really liked the facial expressions and movement of the people. The last photo represents detail, and I think this does a good job because of the texture in the cymbals. At first I was a bit confused by this assignment but I feel this photo fits it nicely overall.
