For this assignment I partnered up with Ethan Moore. He is a student of a major in journalism. He knows he wants to work in the journalism field but he is not sure what he wants to specialize in.

He is originally from Indiana. That’s why I took my first photo. The thing that surprised me the most about IU campus was the amount of trees that it has. I haven’t been here for too much time, and if someone would tell me to describe something about this place, I would say the trees. That’s why I took this photo. Also, although you can’t see much of him, he is wearing his favorite sweater, which he sewed for a concert last year. The light in the photo is caused by natural sunlight coming from his left side. It was in the afternoon, so the sun was not too high. This light is combined with the shadows created by the branches and leaves of the trees. In this photo, I chose this place, because I wanted to play with the combination of light and shadows.

In the next photo, we are at the IU Media School. He works for the Indiana Daily Student Newspaper. Last summer he was the editor-in-chief. This semester, in order to have more free time he is not the editor-in-chief anymore. Anyways, he still spends a lot of time there. Also, as I said before, he wants to be a journalist, so he is really enjoying this experience in the IU Newspaper. For this photo I used the strobe, which was on his left side. Moreover, I like how the computers in the background looked.

In the two previous photos, Ethan is wearing two necklaces. For my close-up photo, I decided to focus on them. The necklaces are teddy bears with “Best friends” written on them. Normally, it is a typical gift between friends and each of them wears one. In Ethan’s case, he wears both. I had never seen someone wearing both of them and I found it really interesting. For this photo I also used the strobe to give more illumination to the hand that holds one of the parts of the necklace as well as the necklace.
