I think this photo shows a great example of color balance and consistency, which is one of the concepts discussed in chapter 4 of “The Photographer’s Eye” by Michael Freeman. Within the chapter he discussed the ability of the photographer to use color balance and consistency within making photos to create and make something that is beautiful yet easy to look at. Within the photo I provided, it can be easily seen that I captured only the warm colors surrounding and engulfing Sam. I wanted to focus on this primarily because of the compliments it gave to his red guitar, which was a major focus within the photos I made of him.

Color has always been something that has captured my attention as I have grown as a photographer. I think one of the major concepts that made color click in my brain was the idea of complimentary colors vs. contrasting colors; specifically how those two can help but also hurt each other. Something I always strayed away from in photography is black and white images, because I was told it was incredibly hard to do them well. I think that is something I want to work on more having now been given a better understanding of how to make them appear more appealing; how putting photos in black an white could possibly enhance the photos.
