This is a photo I took at my internship this summer. While reading chapter 3, the concept that stuck out the most to me was selective focus. I think this image represents that really well because I purposefully focused the camera lens on the player closest to the camera. I think that it creates a nice effect with the player behind him not in focus. Selective focus definitely changes the photograph and it’s purpose. The focus here is the player’s uniform and his glove. You can see the details of his glove and jersey very clearly as they are in focus. Although, you cannot see the expression on his face. I did this on purpose though to create a different type of reaction from people who view this. It kind of gives off the mystery of did they win? Or did they lose? Also, this image I took creates a simple structure that leads to that selective focus. I think this is shown well in this image because the line of players is coming at the camera at a diagonal angle which leads to the player in front, Danny Mars. Creating lines that lead to a focus or are simply creating the image itself was also a big concept in the chapter reading for me. I noticed how many different ways you can use lines in images. For example, diagonal lines, zig zag lines, vertical lines in a horizontal, landscape image, etc.
