I chose to use this photo for my reflection of the reading of Ch. 5 in Freeman’s book because there was a lot of intent behind the taking of this photo. When I was at the venue for this shoot, which was for my night feature project, I saw a lot of cool lights and color that I wanted to capture in my photographs. When I saw the dichotomy of the blues and pinks working with each other in this specific scene I knew that I wanted to somehow capture it. I also thought style played a role in this specific scene because when I was shooting the photos of these two women talking, I was thinking about the aesthetic styles used in the popular show, Euphoria. When I saw these two with the pink light shining on them and the blue in the background I was immediately reminded of the types of lighting they use in the show and how they photograph them. I had this in mind and it was my intent to capture a scene that reminded me of that aesthetic when taking this photo.

The second photo I chose because of similar reasoning, in regards to style and aesthetic. In this photo I saw this real life scene, which was completely natural but looked totally posed which I thought was such an awesome photo moment and it reminded me of one of my favorite director’s style, Wes Anderson. When I saw this moment in real life I had to capture it and I positioned myself in front of them with the intent to capture that scene in a way that would make Mr. Anderson proud.
