In chapter 2, the author speaks a lot about different design basics. Composition, contrast, perception, balance, rhythm, pattern, texture, and visuals were the main purpose of this reading. While looking through photos, I tried to find the photo that incorporated multiple design basics. During my Europe trip this summer, I visited many places that best involve design basics. I chose this photo because it best describes contrast and rhythm. Contrast because all of the colors match. The seating, the ocean, and the boat all have color contrasts that make this photo come together more. The seating also involves the basic design of rhythm, and that is because each table is the same. However, I do love the perspective and visualization of the red chair. I think it best stands out in this photo, and because there isn’t a person in this photo to make it more interesting, I thought the red chair would take the place of that, while also adding contrast with the boat. Also, I love how the blues give a soft vibe to the photo, but the little waves of the ocean and the ombre of the coloring gives a harder texture to the photo. If I could go back and fix something, I would try to get a better angle with more of the boat in it, and I think adding a person in that red chair would just make it even better. I think I would also like it if there was less shadowing on the other tables because I love how you can see that the sun brought brightness into the photo on the first chair.
