Workshop 04 – Compose and Wait!

Woman passes by walking down Indiana Ave. Photo: Zoey Roman

This workshop was about composing a shot different ways. We all had to go out and choose a point to focus on, and wait for subjects to pass by and then take photos. It was somewhat difficult to get shots of people, especially since we were shooting at a time where there isn’t many people out.

For this shot, I had started out across the street and wanted that street pole in the photo since it was interesting covered in papers and posters. I took a couple shots from far away, then went on the side the pole was on. I sat on the ground a few feet away from it and got this shot as the woman was passing.  I kept getting people who would avoid my camera and say sorry as they ran past, which was frustrating because I needed them in the shot. Then I also had trouble finding people since we shot during a time where people were inside.
