This workshop was definitely very unique and a very new concept not only to me, but all of my classmates. It was one that challenged all of us to work and push through the boredom of a “not so interesting” shoot and keep shooting and find ways to make it creative. I first started by trying to find a nice scenery to shoot my paper ball in. I found a nice garden area and was trying to shoot my paper ball and although it was a lovely scenic setting, I realized that if I am truly going to treat this paper ball as my “subject” this garden with flowers and a fountain is not going to tell any story about my paper ball. I began to explore a little bit inside of the building in front of the garden and found a recycling and trash area and I thought this would be a great place to tell a story about my little paper ball. I feel like in a way it touches on the subjects regarding waste on campus and recycling. Besides that; however, I learned a lot about shooting during this workshop because I learned how much of a challenge it can be to switch up shots, compositions, and angles with such a simple subject. I really had to push through the boredom and think out of the box with this shoot but I thought it was a really great learning process and I really appreciated this workshop for this reason and actually ended up having a lot of fun with it in the end.
