This workshop was very fun to participate in. Using a new lens was very fun and interesting to work with. The telephoto lens creates so much depth of field and layers that doesn’t typically get created with my normal lens. In my first photo, I took photos of a girl who was Facetiming her sister before her next class. I talked to her to ask her to take her photo for class, and she was very friendly and kind about it. I like the this first image a lot because you can really see her emotion very clear. She looks either shocked or excited about what her sister just told her through the phone. I think the interpretation of what was said through the phone is fun and makes the photo cool. Also, I really like the lines of the ramp behind her that kind of shapes her face. For the second image I shot of Kirkwood, I think is very cool. There are two different pairs of people walking on Kirkwood, some closer and some farther away from the lens. This creates a deep depth of field and a layering effect. This wide angle also makes Kirkwood look very hilly, which I have never personally noticed before. Something I think I could improve on is remembering to ask people their names! I talked to several people to get their permission to take their photograph, but I can’t forget to ask their names for my captions and possibly portfolio work.
