I focused on two different scenes for this workshop, The first scene I shot was on the patio of the IMU because I wanted to play with the lines of the building and the texture of the stone. I gravitated to this student because the yellow sweatshirt really stood out and add good visual contrast. However, I didn’t get a good close up so I looked for a different scene and found one of two girls chatting outside Franklin Hall.
They were both really animated talkers so I had a lot of fun finding angles to highlight their expressions and body language. The wide shot of the two of them is my favorite from the workshop because I love the colors and the emotion in it but I wished the frame was flipped so she was looking into the frame but in the moment I wanted to also capture the fall background.
Wide angles are incredibly useful for getting scene setting shots and getting as much useful information in as possible but they also can add a lot to the photo themselves. I found it to create wide angle shots that look aggressively wide angle, as the way they play with perspective adds a lot.
