Workshop 9

This workshop provided a fun challenge but right off the bat I will say that I struggled finding people that were moving fast enough to really practice panning with the motion. Since it was early and cold, there were not a lot of people biking or running and those I could find just weren’t moving that fast. However, I was happy with the effect I was getting when I was able to capture someone in action. The panning technique is very effective at making action photos come to life but I personally prefer the look of traditional frozen action over a panning shot.

I also struggled with my settings during this workshop. Since I really wanted to emphasize the panning motion in my shots, I was constantly trying to find the sweet sport for my shutter speed so I missed a few good compositions because my settings were so off, and I just couldn’t salvage what I got. This is definitely a technique I need to practice more.
