When one of Kentucky’s top volleyball recruits got injured briefly before the start of her collegiate career, she thought sitting out her first season was going to be the worst thing to happen to her.
But Kendall Beerman realized shortly afterwards that red-shirting her freshman year was the best decision she’s ever made.
She says she has a wonderful support system, including strength coach Chris Virtue, who is helping her get back to her best playing form. Together, they worked on her nutrition and her strength in the off-season.
Kendall Beerman is a senior now, but still has one more year of eligibility. Beerman says she looks forward to not one, but two full seasons under new head coach Steve Aird, who the players look up to greatly. Beerman also gets to play in the brand new facility that was built for the IU volleyball and wrestling teams next year.
What she originally thought was going to be the worst year of her volleyball career, turned out to be one of the best because it only made her better for the seasons afterwards.
