IUPD Encourages Students To Stay Safe During Little 500 Weekend

The greatest college weekend in America, has finally arrived.
Little 500 weekend brings students and alumni back to Bloomington  to enjoy the races, visit old friends and colleagues, and have a good time.
IUPD Captain Shannon Bunger assures students  law enforcement does not have a primary goal of arresting and sending people to jail.
“We’re not out to get people in trouble. We want everyone to have a good time. Right now the weather looks good for the weekend, so we just want to get to Sunday morning and make sure everybody has a great time,” said Bunger.
Over 100 people were issued drinking citations last year.
These citations cost at least $400. Those that are given citations also have to do community service on Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
IUPD passed out “Party Playbooks” that highlight safety tips that will keep everyone safe during the weekend.
