Cutters win 69th running of the men’s Little 500

We are coming off what many call “the greatest college weekend in America”—the IU Little 500.  This year marked the 69th running of the men’s bike race.  The race is 200 laps around the track, and the final few were intense this year. Here’s the recap:

Phi Kappa Psi looked like the favorite to win as teams headed into their final few laps.  They held a comfortable lead going into the last lap, but made a surprising last minute decision to swap out riders.  The exchange allowed Black Key Bulls and Cutters to close in on Phi Kappa Psi.  Cutters senior Noble Guyon was tailing Black Key Bulls senior Xavier Martinez.  The Bears also worked their way in as Cutters and Black Key Bulls battled neck and neck.

Guyon eventually pulled through and passed Martinez on the right side in the final stretch to cross the finish line, giving Cutters their second consecutive Little 500 win. The win also marked Cutters’ 14th win overall—the most in Little 500 history.

Official results said cutters were followed by Bears in second and Black Key Bulls in third.

This year’s Little 500 was an exciting fight to the finish. Now, we look forward to the big Little 500 70th anniversary.
