Hoosier Receives Stimulus Checks

For IU junior Jevan McCoskey, his St. Patrick’s day was extra lucky and green. After waiting “not so patiently” as he said, his stimulus check came in the morning of March 17th.

“I actually woke up to a text from my mom,” he said. “You got paid! I immediately checked my phone after and it was just such a great feeling.”

He said this check was a blessing and will help him significantly.

McCoskey is one of the many Americans who received this third stimulus check in response to the hardships of the pandemic. About 159 millions households were eligible for the check.

The budgetary cost of this stimulus check through the American Rescue Plan was $411 billion dollars.

Those eligible for the check received $1,400 ($2,800 for married couples), plus an additional $1,400 per eligible child.

I spoke to Bloomington hair stylist Eddie Relick who is set to receive a stimulus check.

But for those who are still waiting for the stimulus check, they are becoming impatient. A lot of people have turned to Twitter and other social media applications to share their frustrations in a humorous way.

Here are a few examples that were on Twitter from today:

The first round of stimulus checks went out through the CARES Act and the second through the Consolidated Appropriations Act signed under Former President Trump.

The latest stimulus check went out through the American Rescue Plan.
