Hurricane Florence IU Affect

Hurricane Florence has decreased to a category 2, however, it is expected to park over the Carolina’s and the expected flooding will cause severe damage. Forecasters say the east coast can expect strong winds and rain for days. If you think it’s just affecting people on the east coast–think again.

Two I-U students share their worries about their loved ones being so far away during such a disastrous storm. Lauralys Shallow has a best friend attending Elon in North Carolina. Her friend is going inland to Charlotte to try to get away from the worst of the flooding.   Avery Frund, another IU student, has both of her parents in North Carolina. They too are going to Charlotte. Avery has been in frequent communication with her parents, who were contemplating the purchase of a home on the coast. With the coast being battered, those plans may change.
