Katherine Receveur is an IU track and field and cross country star who never believed she would be where she is today.
After she committed to IU, she was hospitalized the summer going into her freshman year of college. She had a serious problem with her kidney. Receveur couldn’t complete simple tasks without assistance, so a run certainly wasn’t in her game plan any time soon.
Receveur put her low confidence and nervousness to the side once she got to college and was in recovery. She worked as hard as she could, and eventually it all paid off.
Last season, she earned gold in the Big Ten championships for the 5000 meter race and just this September, she collected her fourth Big Ten Athlete of the Week award.
She went through adversity and hard ships to get to where she is now, but never in a million years did she think she would even get there.
