Beau Bayh, the son of former Indiana Governor Evan Bayh, and grandson of former Indiana Senator Birch Bayh, is carrying on the legacy in the Indiana ballots next fall. The 30-year-old, Harvard Law graduate, Marine Corps veteran is running for Indiana’s Secretary of State in 2026 and has taken to TikTok to promote his campaign.
“We’re just trying to reach voters wherever they are, and a lot of people these days are on social media, especially young people too,” said Bayh.
With a focus on Gen-Z voters, his profile includes a healthy mix of trends, lifestyle content, personal anecdotes, and political perspectives. From campaign announcements to Dairy Queen orders, he does it all. His ability to intertwine campaign matters with personal updates has given him a reliable platform that comes across as unfiltered and trustworthy, especially to Gen-Z. The dialogue even goes both ways. With an open comment section, viewers can respond firsthand to his posts themselves, and sometimes he even replies.
“If they’re taking the time out of their day to watch something that I’m doing and engaging with our content, or just involving themselves politically, it’s only right for me to take the five or ten seconds to respond. Especially, some of these people say such nice things about me or my family. They just give me hope. I love that dialogue with people,” said Bayh.

At the core of Bayh’s campaign policies is a passion for increasing young voter turnout in Indiana, which consistently ranks as one of the worst states in the country for voter participation. With more than 60% of TikTok users between the ages of 13 and 28, Bayh’s decision to campaign on the platform places him directly in Gen-Z’s digital space.
“I really want the focus of our campaign to be reaching out to young folks and talking about issues that are important to them… A lot of students are on TikTok and these various social media platforms, and I’m trying to talk to them on there,” said Bayh.
Bayh’s first ever post on the account was just a few months ago on Oct. 10th. which acquired 30,000 views. Now – on Nov. 30th he sits at just over 7,000 followers. The impressive growth for the time period given indicates his method might just be working.
