Stage Flight Circus Arts Soars to New Heights

Almost everyone loves going to the circus, but rarely do people  ask where the performers acquired their specialized skills. Bloomington has one of these training facilities for circus performers. Stage Flight Circus Arts has been Bloomington’s Premiere Circus training facility for three years. The studio is run and operated by Clint and Hannah Bobzien, who are originally from Bloomington. They attended school together and Clint Bobzien said he joined the Bloomington High Flyers to spend time with her. But as his feelings for her grew, so did his affinity for  circus arts. The two trained together , and both attended IU following high school.  Clint majored in Biology and Hannah, English, but together they pursued their passion of becoming circus performers. They both have extensive training in gymnastics, acrobatics, silks, juggling, and trampoline. They used this training to travel the world with various Circus troupes, including Cirque Du Soleil and appearances on Broadway.

The Bobzien’s used this experience to start a small home school circus training club in their large Bloomington garage. The club initially started with three students,  but rapidly grew  several dozen. The couple bought a larger space and decided to  make a business out of it. Thought it was never part of their plan to start a circus school, they’ve achieved success and satisfaction. Over time, as the number of students grew, they brought on other current and former circus performers as additional instructors.

Stage Flight Circus Arts features a variety of classes, including acrobatics, aerial classes, juggling, and trampoline skills. The classes are open to people of all age  and skill levels and students range from 4 to 66 years old.

Advanced students are a part of Stage Flight Circus Arts Performance Troupe. The performance troupe rehearses at least once a week. The Bobziens are both instructors and performers in the group and help lead the rehearsals with assistance from other instructors. Like the school, this performance group has grown exponentially, and it has allowed for Stage Flight Circus Arts to be able to put on full-length shows. They are currently preparing for a show at the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre on May 25th and 26th. Their goal is that Stage Flight Circus arts will continue to soar to new heights.
