Tim Cook talks in a calm demeanor, knowing that the work that was put into the apple watch was something that he was able to be proud about. After the Apple Watch was introduced the standing ovations started to pour in, and in that moment Tim Cook’s attitude changed from a serious to fun look. Cook’s main talking points about the watch come in the form of precision and intimacy. Two ideals that reign more important over most people. Cook isn’t dressed like a CEO, he is dressed like most of the people at the Apple Watch premiere, symbolizing that this Apple product can be for everyone, and not just limited to a certain group of people. Providing more of a realistic approach to the start of the next big device in the technological world.

“You know it’s driven by Apple from the beginning,” Says Senior VP Jony Ive,”this compulsion to take incredibly powerful technology, and make it accessible, relevant and ultimately personal.” The personalization features on the Apple Watch have allowed for new accessibility never before seen on other devices. The digital crown is first of its kind, to allow zoom and be used at home button without disrupting display. With the first of its kind in the realm of  technology the Apple developers wanted users to feel a creative sense of their own. With the digital crown feature the possibilities are endless for what users are able to achieve just off the wrist of their body.

The dimensions to the watch is what allows for such a dynamic fold with so much technology just being worn on the wrist of oneself. With a 38.6 mm in height, 33.3 mm in width, 10.5 mm in depth, and 40 g in case weight. The apple watch is dynamic in many different ways, with the taptic engine which allows for the slightest twitch to reach the attention of the interface user. The dimensions of the watch provide many different possibilities for personalized communication patterns.

The personalized communication introduces digital touch right below the crown. The quick and easy communication features on the Apple Watch create more memorable experiences to be created by one another. The quick communication adds different expressions allowed to be made by the user. A new notification feature is being created on the watch as well, different ways to receive notifications and new icons and pop ups allowed. With a new custom notification setting, quick and easy responses allow for an easier interface to be used by users. Including downloading apps to the watch which allow travel

The health and fitness within the Apple watch is set to improve and motivate people to become more active and healthy. The exercise features allow for individuals to track all activity done throughout the day. The workout app allows for users to challenge themselves and one another in competition based weekly workouts. While additionally having crucial vitals measured during the workout, including heart rate, movement and time of the workout. The exercise ring captures all activity done, in which the users can personalize how long they want their activity rates to be at.

“Now while you’re walking, the apple watch will give you taptic feedback on each turn, so you will know whether it’s time to turn left or to turn right. And those feelings are different for each direction, so you can know without even looking at your watch. It’s like having this invisible guide with you.”

CUPERTINO,California (Sept. 9, 2014) – Apple has done it again. CEO of Apple, Tim Cook received a roaring standing ovation from apple fans during the September 2014 event held at Flint Center after introducing Apple’s latest product, the Apple Watch. Cook introduces the product with an encapsulating video featuring sound effects and close ups of every feature of the watch’s rich design. Cook believes that this product will redefine what people expect from watches in the future, calling it “The next chapter in Apple’s story”. The main details that set the watch apart from other watches as well as other Apple products is not only the innovative design but also its personable and customizable features.

The apple watch includes many features that are both useful but also extremely customizable to each and every user. A brand-new feature of this watch is its ability to easily interchange wrist straps which allows users to incorporate their own fashion with the device. The wrist straps can be easily removed. On the back of the watch there are two release buttons which will unlock the strap, then when you are ready to replace the strap, you just slide the new strap into position until it clicks. Thanks to this advanced technology Apple offers six different straps to choose from. Ranging from materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, leather, nylon, and silicon. Each band or strap can be used for different purposes for both style and convenience. For example, the silicon wrist band would be favorable for someone who is active due to the materials sweat durability. Whereas the leather or stainless wrist bands may be more for aesthetics.

Indiana University faculty member uses the Apple Watch while studying. She uses her watch to do basic functions like checking time and responding to messages, rather than using her iPhone.

In addition to the straps being customizable, the watch faces or lock screens are also customizable.  Apple offers around 11 different watch faces that allow users to suit their style and needs. Some of these faces include time lapse, astronomy, motion, color, photo and much more. Each of these faces has a purpose with some even offering important daily information right at your wrist. For example, the time lapse face according to apple tells the most accurate time. Apple users can even further this customization by choosing other information to include on the home screen like, weather, reminders, and etc. Apple’s main designer claims these features help to, “embrace individuality and inspire design” says Jonathan Ive. These features and emphasis on the consumers’ values will be a big selling point for apple.

Apart from the Apple Watch’s intriguing and clean appearance, the watch’s technical capabilities make the product even more special. I’ve explained that the watch is basically just a smaller version of a computer or iPhone, making the watch seem that much more impressive. The Watch also includes easy to use navigation through touch sensors on the screen, as well as the digital crown located on the side of the watch. The Apple Watch goes way beyond the capabilities of a normal watch even allowing users to communicate from their wrist. By connecting to the user’s phone people are able to engage in light communication such as text and call right from their watch. Cook claims you can respond to messages in just second using the Apple watch in comparison to the iPhone. With this new version of communication Apple has also created a new version of messaging, with just a tap or hold users can send each other new drawn or predesigned doodles.

Aside from communication and obviously telling time, one of the watches most attractive and unheard-of features is its fitness tracking features. The Apple watch tracks daily activity throughout the day and is even able to track your heart rate thanks to the high-end photodiode lenses located on the back of the watch. Aside from that, the Apple watch also offers personal daily fitness goals and activity suggestions throughout the day. There are three main “rings” on the fitness display. Once these rings are completed it means the user has reached their fitness goals for the day. For example, there is a stand ring, move ring, exercise ring. These rings can measure calories, distance traveled, duration of fitness, and so much more. This data is not only stored in the watch but also in the health app on the users iPhone making this data easily accessible.

With so many helpful features Tim Cook claims “The Apple Watch helps you live a better day and a healthier life.” Who doesn’t want that? The Apple Watch is not just a device for telling time but a groundbreaking invention that embraces the user and all their lively needs.

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014)- The presentation of the first-ever Apple Watch was shown in Cupertino, California by the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, marking Apple’s entry into the smartwatch market.

The presentation included slow-motion videos showcasing the features of the watch, a live demonstration of the watch’s capabilities, along with Tim Cook’s passionate, in-depth discussion of the device.

With the Apple Watch, Apple is stepping into the wearable technology market with the same pioneering spirit that has always defined the company. Tim Cook emphasized the remarkable innovation behind its creation, making the product groundbreaking for the company. “It is the next chapter in Apple’s story,” said Cook. Cook emphasized that each Apple product stems from a breakthrough in user interface. Cook noted that the Apple Watch follows in the footsteps of the iPhone and iPad, and is yet another product that pushes the boundaries of what technology can do for you. “The Apple Watch required the same kind of careful deliberate consideration. What we didn’t do was take the iPhone, shrink the user interface and strap it on your wrist. The display is too small and it would be a terrible customer experience,” said Cook.

This smartwatch will redefine the way we interact with technology, offering a blend of style, functionality, and advanced health tracking, all from your wrist. The Apple Watch combines cutting-edge technology with striking design. It is available in a wide range of finishes, colors, sizes, and customizable bands, catering to all users personal style. Users can choose from shiny aluminum cases, stainless steel, and even luxurious gold options, ensuring that the Apple Watch is not only functional, but a fashion statement that can be worn all day for any occasion.

The device’s interface is a remarkable achievement in user experience, featuring a unique “Digital Crown” that allows users to easily scroll through their notifications, messages, and apps. “Let me give you an example. Here is back to the map. When you turn the digital crown, it zooms in and out. When you have a list, you can scroll through the list and you can do all of this without blocking the screen. And if you’re within an app like the clock app as an example, if you press the digital crown, it returns to the home screen just as you would expect it to,” said Cook. This innovative feature provides an experience that’s both efficient and easy to use.

With the Apple Watch, staying connected has never been easier. Users can receive and respond to notifications directly from their wrist. The watch has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing users to stay connected without using their phones.

In addition, the Apple Watch includes a wide range of apps, allowing users to customize their experience. The possibilities of things that can be done from a users wrist are endless.

A standout feature of the Apple Watch is its comprehensive health and fitness tracking. The watch is equipped with advanced sensors that monitor heart rate, track physical activity, and provide personalized coaching to help users meet their health and fitness goals. “Apple Watch is going to greatly improve the way we keep track of our activity and change the way we look at fitness. We think it’s going to help a lot of people live a better day and a healthier life,” said Cook. With two remarkable health and fitness applications, users can view their daily movements and receive reminders to stay active. The apple watch promotes a healthier lifestyle.

Additionally, the Apple Watch is designed to work seamlessly with the Health app on iPhone, allowing users to integrate their health analytics in one place. This ensures that users have easy access to their health data. This will enable users to make informed decisions about their health, set realistic fitness goals, and stay motivated to lead a healthy lifestyle.

As Apple looks to the future of the Apple Watch, a key focus will be on collaborating with third-party developers through the newly launched WatchKit. This platform enables developers to create apps designed for the Apple Watch, expanding its functionality and amplifying their experience. “The list of features is a mile-long and I’m certain when developers get their hands on the developer kit, that list will get even longer and there will be things that we couldn’t even imagine in it,” said Cook. WatchKit opens up endless possibilities for customization and functionality, further driving the smartwatch experience to new heights.

The Apple Watch will be available in early 2015, with pricing starting at just $349. “It’s something functional yet incredibly beautiful. It empowers people and enriches their lives. Apple Watch is the most personal device Apple has ever created. We are so excited about the Apple Watch and I hope you are as well,” said Cook.

The Apple Watch is as precise as can be, matching and being synced to the universal time standard, as well as being customizable, giving users the ability to make the product their own and tailored to their needs and preferences. Along with its precision, it allows users to connect to their devices seamlessly while also doubling as a health and fitness device.

The functionality tools and methods for the device show and express the thoughtfulness behind the product. The digital crown, located on the side of the device, serves as a navigation device for the watch, offering zoom features on applications such as Maps, scrolling on a list, and helping you return to the home screen when exiting out of apps.

The flexible retina display alongside this dial allows the device to have a sleek, sophisticated look, further proving how the Apple Watch combines style and functionality. The variety and range of watch faces, colored bands, textured straps, and types of buckles continues giving users the ability to customize their experience. In addition, there are 3 collections. The traditional Apple Watch is in a polished case, the Apple Watch Sport has an aluminum shell that is stronger while still being light, and finally, the Apple Watch Edition which is made of hard, 18-karat gold.  Touch and force differentiators make the device context-sensitive, and allow for a more positive user experience and increased functionality. All of this is made possible by the new S1 chip and taptic engine that allow for a device this small to have so much use.

The back crystal, responsible for tracking heart rate and fitness-related activities, also connects to the inductive charging powered by MagSafe, which doesn’t require alignment and makes the process easy for users.

Quick reply is also an integral feature relating to the ease of use of the watch, giving users a list of potential replies when receiving messages, and the ability to use animated emojis or audio text.

“We’ve also been working to enable third-party developers to extend their apps to Apple Watch,” Lynch points out, expressing this potential due to applications on the iPhone. The partnerships with other businesses, such as Starwood Hotels, giving watch wearers the ability to unlock their hotel door with a tap of their watch, shows their confidence in the watch and the potential it has to better the lives of customers. Other notable connections include Pinterest, American Airlines, and BMW.

Cook dives into what he considers to be one of the most important features of the watch: fitness. “We have two new applications in Apple Watch. First is the fitness app. The fitness app monitors all of your activity and movement throughout the day. And the second is the workout app. The workout app allows you to set specific goals for specific types of workouts like cycling or running,” notes Cook. A comprehensive, in-depth video shows the health impacts and ways the product will allow users to meet their fitness goals. “Apple Watch is designed to help anyone who wears it to lead a healthier life by being more active,” says Jay Blahnik, Director of Fitness, Health Technologies. He points out how this watch and its features are for everyone, from high-level athletes to those just starting their fitness journey.

“Apple Watch required some deep innovation. It’s a precise timepiece with incredible ability to customize. It’s a new, intimate way to communicate directly from your wrist, and it’s a comprehensive health and fitness device. And it is so much more.”

Apple Watch pairs with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5, starting at a cost of $349 in early 2025.

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) — On Tuesday, September 9th, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the release of the brand new Apple Watch. The product is the first of its kind and will be available to users later this year. Tim Cook’s introduction of the new product left the audience speechless as they gave him a standing ovation.

Cook was thrilled to share the innovative watch in front of hundreds of Apple users- he could barely hold in his enthusiasm considering his proud laugh and fist pumps. Apple’s new development is very customizable to the user, allowing them to track workouts, quickly communicate from the device, and use third-party apps with their innovative features. The three versions of the watch will allow the customer to choose the perfect fit for them.

A pedestrian uses the Apple Watch to track their workouts. The activity tracker is one of the most notable functions of the new watch and will allow people to record their physical progress.

One of the most prominent facets of the new product is the fitness and workout component. These two features help watch wearers track their workouts in addition to customizing specific personalized goals.  The watch contains sensors that are activated with the movement of the user’s wrist.

During the Apple Watch introduction, a video was shown featuring Jay Blahnik in which he said, “It can track a wider variety of activities because it’s able to collect more types of data. It uses an accelerometer to measure your total body movement. It has a custom sensor that can measure intensity by tracking your heart rate, and it uses the GPS and WiFi in your iPhone to track how far you’ve moved.”  In addition, the watch can measure total burned calories, how long users have stood up, and all physical activity users have completed.  Blahnik then said, “Over time, Apple Watch actually gets to know you the way a good personal trainer would. It’s designed to deliver intelligent reminders to keep you motivated and on track. And it can suggest goals that are personal, realistic, and most importantly, achievable, which gives you a far better chance of succeeding.”  The Apple Watch is both intimate and unique allowing users to use new, innovative software that promotes fitness and a healthy lifestyle like never before.  The watch has several unprecedented features that can benefit watch users day to day life as well as having impressive accuracy and efficient communication.

A student wears her Apple Watch while studying to keep track of time and communicate with peers. Apple Watch users are able to receive and respond to text messages from their watch, allowing them to communicate with people from anywhere at any time.

The watch has multiple attributes that give users the ability to contact others in countless ways in a matter of seconds.  “You can get someone’s attention with a gentle tap.” Tim Cook said, “You can send a quick sketch, or you can even share something as personal as your own heartbeat.”  The Apple Watch is helpful for fast and efficient communication as well as quick interactions on apps.

The watch also notifies users when they receive a notification by making a small vibration that they can feel on their wrist.   The watch contains extra functions that make the device easy to use and navigate considering its small size.  With a multi-purpose crown for zooming and scrolling, a taptic engine with audio and speakers, and infrared LEDs that work alongside the digital crown and engine, the watch can be reactive and responsive for direct and precise transmission.  With these features, watch wearers can call contacts from their watch, send messages, and share emojis and expressions with friends right from their wrist.  The product is unique with ingenious capabilities. “It is so simple and elegant. It’s something only Apple could do.” said Cook.  Users are able to improve their lifestyle and benefit from the watch using methods never seen before.

Lastly, the watch can directly work with third-party apps to enhance the product’s features for users.  With the invention of Watchkit, third-party developers can create additional ways in which users can profit from the product.  During the demonstration of the Apple Watch, examples of third parties that have already worked to develop new features for the watch were shared.  Throughout the demonstration, Kevin Lynch previewed an instance with the GPS app and said “Now, while you’re walking, Apple Watch will give you taptic feedback on each turn. So you’ll know whether it’s time to turn left or to turn right. And those feelings are different for each direction. So you can actually know without even looking at your watch, which way to go. It’s like having this invisible guide with you.”  Lynch further discussed additional apps that were in the process of formatting watch-specific components which include American Airlines, Starwood Hotels, City Mapper, Pinterest, BMW, MLB, Honeywell, Lutron, Nike, and more.  These current brands along with the potential, other developers have to create features using Watchkit, will change the way consumers live.

The customizable and intimate watch is offered in three different styles including the traditional Apple Watch made from stainless steel, the Apple Watch Sport with an aluminum case, and lastly, the Apple Watch Edition made from 18-carat gold.  The three watch designs all can be personalized to best fit the user and their preferences.  The watch is offered with various watch bands that can each be used for different activities, purposes, and styles.  The watch can be purchased starting at only $349 and will be on the market within a year.

Another innovative addition to the Apple Watch Sport is the digital crown – a uniquely fashioned dial on the watch’s side, made specially for navigation. The crown is able to zoom in and out of the display, and allows for scroll through lists of apps without blocking the touchscreen. The digital crown enriches the user experience of the watch through tactile, precise interaction with the interface, offering smooth and effective functionality by not relying strictly on the touchscreen alone.

Additional Features
Along with being an effective fitness tracker, and a convenient communication tool, the Apple Watch Sport has an assortment of useful tools. For example, it comes with a calculator, stopwatch, and timer, which users can apply in their daily tasks and needs for time-management in general. It also has a map feature that lets you navigate right from your wrist. These various tools enhance the level of potential use of the Apple Watch Sport beyond just a simple fitness tracker, it has become a multi-functional tool that supports the lifestyle and productivity of users.

According to Tim Cook, Apple Watch is the most personal device ever offered by Apple. He stated the watch is not merely a piece of technology, but is part of a very personal, intimate, and shared experience.  The Apple Watch expands upon traditional watches and fitness devices, as a device that will help you communicate, be productive, manage your health, and more from a device worn on your wrist. Cook is also understood to view the Apple Watch not as simply the initiation of a new product, but as a transformational product platform that Apple will develop over time, similar to the iPhone. Apple will continue to introduce software updates and better hardware based upon what they learn from customer experiences. Apple Watch is an example of that innovation, in terms of collecting relevant information, improving customer experience, communication, personal convenience and health. Apple Watch further establishes Apple as an industry leader in technology advancement.

[CUPERTINO, CA]: Apple CEO Tim Cook unveils new product with unseen technology “Apple Watch”, during an event Tuesday in Cupertino, CA. Cook outlined the details seen in the watch during his presentation, as it is set to be released in a few weeks to the general public. The unveiling came at the end of a showcase by the company highlighting their latest projects. The industry-leading innovation has exceeded expectations from even some of Apple’s critics, as the watch’s revolutionary features.

The watch’s exterior is laminated by a single layer of sapphire, making it durable with a sleek look. The customizable and replaceable bands that come with the watch are also appealing to fans as they bring a sense of personalization to the product. “It is incredibly customizable, so you can find one that reflects your style and taste,” Cook said. There is speculation that even more custom features are still to come.

The first big feature mentioned by Cook was the use of a Digital crown. This feature allows the user to navigate the watch’s interface without blocking the screen with their finger, offering a fluent experience for the user. Cook demonstrated with a map, showing the easy usability of the crown rather than using your fingers as a touch screen.

One of the most functional details that was portrayed during the event was the health and fitness tracking options in the watch. The Apple Watch tracks heart rate, activity levels, and even workouts, as well as setting up daily goals to motivate users to be active with their health. “The Apple Watch gives us the ability to motivate people to be more active and be more healthy,” Cook said. The groundbreaking features in the fitness section of the watch are so advanced that they learn with the user as the user works out with it, and are able to track and share data based on a pulse built on the bottom side of the watch.

Another huge feature outlined by Cook and his team at Apple was the ability to pay exclusively through the watch, through Apple Pay. Apple Pay, as highlighted earlier in the event, is a way to pay through your phone or now watch without having a physical card on you. The watch is able to sync to an apple pay system and allow you to purchase items with only your wrist.

Cook does mention that the Apple Watch requires the use of an iPhone to work. “The Apple Watch does require an iPhone because it’s been designed to seamlessly work together,” Cook said. The iPhones compatible with the watch were announced as the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and the iPhone 5c. The watch is charged through conductive charging through a magnetic charging cable. The watch is set to release at a retail price of 349.99 dollars and will be released in early 2015.

The event concluded with the details on when the watch will be released, but Cook is definitely looking into the future. He mentioned the future of the Apple Watch and described different versions that could/will release in the future such as a sport version and a pro version. The event concluded with a concert from world renowned band “U2”. The Watch’s release is highly anticipated with many already waiting to get their hands on the innovative product. We can expect there to be more details to come out in the near future but the technology and features we have seen are just the beginning. There will definitely be more creative and custom features down the line for those who crave a unique experience. “It’s something functional, yet incredibly beautiful,” Cook said in summary of the product’s design. We look forward to early 2015, where a full retail launch of the product will be released.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, presented a new advancement in wearable technology, this Tuesday (Sep 9th 2014), in Cupertino California, the first of Apple’s smart watch products, to connect the ease of your phone right to your wrist.

The enthusiasm and positive attitude of Tim Cook was well received  by the audience, reflecting the reaction to the new product. Once Tim began discussing the various and unique features of the new product the crowd’s excitement became palpable as cheers filled the room. Tim seemed calm and comfortable on the stage strutting around in a simple button down, presenting his knowledge and confidence in the product. “I am so excited and I am so proud to share it with you this morning” Cook said beaming about the product. After playing the demonstrational video of the Apple Watch, Kevin Lynch walked onto to stage playing a crucial part in demonstrating the intricate features the watch has to offer.

The Apple Watch, as Cook and Lynch explained, has ground breaking features and advancements. “A precise, customizable timepiece” is what the new Apple Watch product truly embodies. It is customizable to fit anyone’s personal style and is meant to be worn at any time. It is the perfect combination of technology and style. Unlike other wearable technology the design is very sleek and clean, making it just as fashionable as it is functional. Another feature of this timepiece is allowing people to communicate more effectively, right from your wrist. It is a device that is very convenient and pairs perfectly with their prior device, the Iphone. The Apple watch is single handedly the next major step in the evolution of the company.

The most prominent feature is the dial, which is known as the digital crown. “It’s a very simple and elegant and amazing input in navigation devices” according to Cook. It is used to zoom in and out of the home screen and go into an app effectively. The apps displayed are the ones that are also on the Iphone, making the watch easy to navigate. Another astonishing feature is that the Apple Watch can sense when the wrist is raised, detecting motion. The home screen is immediately displayed and shows personal apps without touch. What is truly amazing is that both of these outstanding features mentioned don’t even involve the touch of the screen. This is preventative to any damage the watch could endure. Adding on, the watch features short cuts within the app. This makes the watch very convenient in many ways. Smart replies, which are the shortcuts, work for texts and calls.
