Today, Apple introduced the Apple Watch; the company’s first form of wearable technology. This technological invention pairs cutting-edge technology with a versatile design. Coming in two different sizes; 38mm and 42mm, buyers have different options regarding their preferred watch size. The watches are split into three different collections: the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition, providing a plethora of options to choose from. Aside from the aesthetic of this watch, the Apple Watch promotes physical health and mental well-being, as it has a built-in heart monitor, an app to track your steps, and sends notifications to users, urging them to move their bodies and make healthier choices. The touch-screen feature paired with a digital crown that can be found on the side of this device makes it functional and easy to use at any time. The modern aesthetic of this watch offers a balance of functionality as well as style to users.

The Apple Watch is available in two different sizes, 38mm and 42mm, allowing buyers to select their preferred watch size based on personal preference as well as comfort. This customization ensures that the device caters to a wide range of users, accommodating different needs and style preferences. “It’s so simple and elegant, it’s something only Apple can do,” said Tim Cook. Apple has launched three different collections: the Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition. Each collection offers unique features, giving consumers a plethora of options to suit their needs.

Beyond aesthetics, the Apple Watch promotes both physical health and mental well-being. With a built-in heart monitor, users are able to track their heart rate in real time, helping them stay on top of their health. Additionally, a fitness app tracks daily activity, including steps taken and calories burned. In an effort to encourage healthier habits, the watch sends notifications periodically, reminding users to take a deep breath, move their bodies, and take time to practice mindfulness. These features make the Apple Watch extremely helpful for those dedicated to maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Media expert Brian Andrews converses with students. He can be seen wearing the Apple Watch, a modern accessory, on his wrist.

The Apple Watch has a touch-screen display, ensuring that it is easy to use. It also features a digital crown on the side, which allows for easy scrolling and navigation without messing up the screen. The prioritization of physical controls makes the Apple Watch easy to use. Additionally, the device allows users to send messages, receive notifications, and make phone calls from their wrists. The Apple watch has a similar purpose to the iPhone; however, the design of the watch makes performing these tasks easier and more convenient for individuals.

Aesthetically speaking, the Apple Watch offers much room for customization and personalization. Users are able to switch out their watch bands, personalize their home screen, and choose from a variety of different watch colors. Because of the large amount of variety, the Apple Watch is extremely versatile, as you can customize it however you want for any occasion.

Max William, student at Indiana University, texts a friend using his Apple Watch. Max finds that his ability to communicate with others is very convenient, as he is able to wear this technological innovation on his wrist.

Aside from releasing the Apple Watch, Kevin Lynch, vice president of technology at Apple, Inc. discussed additional innovations such as working with third-party developers to extend their apps to the Apple Watch. By doing this, individuals will get the best of both worlds, as they will be able to access apps from their phones on their Apple Watches. Aside from this, Lynch discussed WatchKit, which is a framework provided by Apple that assists in developing applications for the Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch encourages wellness, helps individuals be more productive, and makes everyday activities more convenient. Pairing technology with functionality, the Apple Watch has started a technological revolution of wearable devices. Apple CEO Tim Cook highlighted the significance of this launch, stating, “it empowers people and enriches their lives, Apple Watch is the most personal device that Apple has ever created.”  Cook’s sentimental words portray Apple’s dedication to delivering innovative products that seamlessly integrate into users’ lives.

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) — Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the launch of its new product, the Apple Watch, which includes ground-breaking technology that combines personalization and efficiency for users.

Cook teased those who attended the press event on Tuesday by explaining there is “one more thing” after giving a presentation on the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The immediate arouse of the crowd ignited a smile on Cook’s face, and that enthusiasm and excitement within the audience and Cook stayed through the presentation of the Apple Watch.

As the “most personal device we’ve ever created”, Cook said, the Apple Watch is sure to be the next major step in the evolution of Apple. The watch’s main features include telling accurate time, connecting people, and tracking fitness with its pitch of being a wearable iPhone. The Apple Watch will be able to pair with the iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, and the upcoming iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

IU student, Lucy Pappas, uses her Apple Watch to track her time while studying. She uses a timer to pace herself and allow for small breaks.

Kevin Lynch, a software developer for Apple, also showed the audience the real-time use of the watch by connecting its contents to the large screen. With just a raise of the wrist, the watch turns on with a display of all the apps: clock, mail, phone, messages, fitness, maps, and more. The user interface of the Apple Watch is flawless and efficient with a digital crown, similar to a crown on a regular watch, that allows for scrolling through lists and zooming in and out without having to touch the watch. When notifications are sent to a user’s phone, the notification also pops up on the watch. Users are then able to take different steps depending on what kind of notification it is. For messages, simply use the smart reply or dictation tools for a quick response. With the ability to customize watch faces, control music, use glances to swipe through critical information, and even the implementation of Siri, the Apple Watch is sure to be a revolutionary product.

Fitness is also an important factor with this watch that can be used for any person whether just wanting to track their movement throughout the day or wanting to train for the Olympics. The Activity app encourages 3 types of movement with rings that signify whether the user has hit the goal: stand, move, and exercise. The Fitness app tracks specific kinds of exercises, like running and biking, while encouraging users to meet their goals during the workout. “Apple Watch is going to greatly improve the way we keep track of our activity and change the way we look at fitness,” Jay Blahnik, the Director of Fitness at Apple said.

While Jony Ive, senior VP of design at Apple, also touched on the watch’s features in a narrated video, he gave details about the physical makeup of the watch and the different types of editions and bands users can choose from. The watch is made of single crystal sapphire, the second hardest material in the world, and it has a Zirconia back with 4 sapphire lenses with LEDs and photo sensors to accurately detect pulse rate. Charging the watch couldn’t be easier with Apple’s MagSafe® technology and effective charging to create a magnetic placement that perfectly fits the watch. “It is so simple and elegant, it is something only Apple could do,” Cook said.

“We have designed 6 different straps and a mechanism that makes the straps easily interchangeable with a refinement and precision that’s born of functionality,” Ive said. These straps include a Sport Band made of tough, sweat-resistant elastomer offered in bold colors; the Leather Loop made of soft, quilted leather that includes magnets for adjustment and optimal comfort; the Milanese Loop made of stainless steel mesh with a magnet closure; the hand-crafted leather Modern Buckle that includes a metal clasp and wraps symmetrically around the wrist; the leather Classic Buckle to resemble regular watches; and the stainless steel Link Bracelet with a slim clasp. To include wrists of all sizes, the Apple Watch offers a smaller watch with smaller straps. “We knew one size wouldn’t fit everyone,” Ive said.

Three collections will be available at the beginning of 2015: the Apple Watch, made of stainless steel, the Apple Watch Sport, with a glass cover and aluminum case, and Apple Watch Edition, made of 18-karat gold. The retail price will start at $349 (USD). “We think people are going to love to use Apple Watch; they are going to love to wear it,” Cook said. “It’s something functional, yet incredibly beautiful. It empowers people and enriches their lives.”

CUPERETINO, California (Sept, 9, 2014) — Today, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the highly anticipated Apple Watch, marking the company’s entry into wearable technology. At a special event at the Flint Center in Cupertino, Cook introduced Apple Watch as a breakthrough in personal technology. Starting at $349, the device offers users the ability to stay connected, track fitness, and personalize their device, all from their wrist.

“The Apple Watch is the most personal device we’ve ever created. It’s a precise timepiece, an innovative health and fitness companion, and a whole new way to communicate,” said Cook. The Apple Watch offers a range of features that set it apart in the wearable tech space. Powered by the S1 chip, Apple Watch integrates key functionalities into a single compact system, allowing for precision, power, and speed in every use. CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 14, 2014) Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the newest invention in the company’s storied history, The Apple Watch, in front of a sold-out crowd in Cupertino on Tuesday.

The watch world, as it is known, will never be the same.

The advancement of the watch was so dramatic that even Cook was blown away by what the company could accomplish.

“We love to make technology more personable and allow our users to do things they never could have imagined.” Said Cook.

Lisa checked her Apple Watch as she received a message from one of her teachers. It was important she prioritized work outside of the school too.

The Apple Watch is far from a one-size-fits-all all device. The Apple Watch delivers state-of-the-art accuracy and is customizable to each user who puts it on their wrist. From health and fitness to its slick exterior design, the Apple Watch blows users away in every way imaginable. From its flexible display, designed for easy magnetic charging, to the guts of the system, which include a custom-designed chip with sensors to detect your pulse and daily activity. Wearing the Apple watch is essentially wearing a computer on your wrist.

Leah inspected her Apple Watch and made sure her heart rate and pulse were at a normal level after being in the sauna. She needed to keep track of her health.

The Apple watch will, “Redefine what people will expect from its category,” said Cook.

The Apple Watch is not just another fitness watch. The Apple Watch comes with a slick, smooth exterior that is perfect for all walks of life. From the stainless-steel Apple Watch to the Durable Apple Sport, which includes sixty percent stronger alloys, and the Apple Watch Edition a watch that is made of 18-karat gold

.
Apple Vice President Kevin Lynch was more than thrilled to describe in detail the life-changing features of Apple’s newest design. The Apple Watch is so accurate, that it can tell time down to one fiftieth of a millisecond. Interesting enough, the Apple Watch includes features that give users the ability to analyze the moon, as well as tell where they are on Earth.

The Apple Watch will change the way that we communicate. With a taptic engine, the Apple Watch alerts the user with a subtle tap on the wrist when they receive a notification. It is easy to respond to messages on the Apple Watch. From Apple’s quick board, which includes accurate, generated responses, to creating your own custom messages the Apple Watch makes it so that users do not have to pick up their phone to stay in contact with others.
Traveling has never been easier, thanks to the Apple Watch. Apple has partnered with countless companies to revolutionize the way that we travel. From unlocking hotel rooms to accessing flight tickets to providing maps and mass transit directions, traveling has never been simpler.

On a personal level, the Apple Watch enables users to track their parked cars, keep track of the big game, and even control the temperature of their home from their watch; but, those are just some, of the ways that the Apple Watch can change lives.
“Being active is one of the best things that you can do to improve your health, and Apple Watch gives you the ability to be a bit healthier,” Cook told the crowd.

Apple Watching features fitness, and workout apps, that track a user’s activity right to the very last step. Apple Watch is designed for everyone; from beginners on their fitness journey to elite athletes, Apple Watch provides state-of-the-art and never-before-seen data to improve the workout experience. Apple Watch gives users a complete overview of their activity, from calories burnt, to comprehensive workout plans that allow users to compete and get the best out of each other, as the Watch adapts to each users preferences.

The video we put together emphasizes the variety of apps and uses provided by the Apple watch. This revolutionary product offers lighting control, health monitoring, ect, and is functional for all. The subjects we chose were based on age and how each individual used the Apple Watch product. The first subject, Leah, who is a teenage girl, tracks her fitness, how active she is and monitors her heart rate before, during, and after her workouts. This is important for Leah because she has asthma which is a chronic lung condition that can make breathing difficult if not watched and managed. The Apple Watch made Leah’s life easier to navigate and keep track of rather than relying on relying on her phone to do so. The second subject is Lisa and she uses her apple watch for different reasons, however, just as important. As a mother of three along with being a principal, reliability and availability at all times is crucial to Lisa. For the most part, she utilizes the phone call and message apps to stay in contact throughout the day.

“This is the most personable device that Apple has ever created,” said Cook.

Apple Watch will become available in early 2015 and will retail for $349, symbolizing another revolutionary release, in a long-standing tradition of life-changing creations from Apple.

Apple introduces new and innovative technology

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) – Tim Cook announced the release of the Apple Watch today at a press event. They were giving a speech about Apple and their products when all of a sudden on the big screen there were the words “one more thing…” displayed for the crowd.

This Apple Watch is a new, everyday, useful product. Not only is the Apple Watch new but it is also incredibly innovative. The Apple Watch allows you to communicate with whoever you may need quite literally right from your wrist.

Mike, IU Faculty member, checks his wrist as he receives a notification bell. Apple watch allows users to check and respond to text messages at ease.

Now, this Apple Watch is not like any other digital watches we have ever seen before. The Apple Watch is supposed to be the next best watch in the world. It is a great new technology tool that you can wear all day long and for any occasion that you might need.

The Apple Watch is a touch screen watch that has any and all of the same features that are on the iPhone. You can call, text, or email someone. If you need to send a text to someone, it delivers it in 50 milliseconds. You also have a calculator app on the Watch, that is so convenient. There is no need to whip out your iPhone when you need to set an alarm or even set a timer because you can do that from your apps on your new Apple Watch.

Also, on top of this Apple Watch being your new personal communication device and fashion accessory, it can be used for fitness as well. The Apple Watch has a comprehensive health and fitness design so that you can track your daily habits. Some of those health habits are the three circles you are encouraged to close by the end of your day. Those circles are your standing goal, your exercise goal and your move goal.

This Apple Watch is not like any watches we have seen before. It is easy to use because Apple created a crown on the side of the Watch that allows you to navigate all over the screen without blocking your view. That crown button on the side is also able to be used to get back to your homescreen on the watch. Another part of the Apple Watch that makes it uncomplicated to use is the charger. “The back crystal also houses a unique charging solution that combines our MagSafe technology with inductive charging,” according to the Apple Watch Introduction video. In other words, the charger for the Apple Watch uses a normal block to be put into an outlet but then on the end of the cord, there is a magnetic circle that allows you to place the back of your watch on. When the back of the Apple Watch is close to the front of the charger it automatically connects and forms a tight seal.

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) – Groundbreaking “Apple Watch” launched Tuesday at the annual conference by Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, in Cupertino, CA, providing Apple users with a never-before level of technological personalization.

Apple’s annual conference, its “Special Event”, was held at the Flint Center for Performing Arts in Cupertino, California, hosting around two thousand Apple enthusiasts brimming with excitement over the unexpected announcement of the Apple Watch. In the last segment of the conference, Tim Cook, CEO, dressed casually in a button down and jeans, announced that there was “one more thing.” The Apple Watch was then launched with a seamless, professional video highlighting both the beauty, form, and capabilities of the product itself.

“Apple Watch is the most personal device we have ever created,” Cook said. “We sought out to make the best watch in the world.” The watch works seamlessly with the iPhone, and also acts as a fitness device, with a fully customizable user interface and endless capabilities. The Apple Watch, like both the iPod and iPhone before it, utilizes its own navigational technology, this time, the digital crown of the watch.

Made to be worn, the watch is “just as much about technology as it is style and taste,” Cook said. He then introduced a video about the design of the watch, narrated by Jony Ive, Senior VP of Design for Apple, which went into more detail of the capabilities the watch possessed. The watch senses when it is being raised, and lights the screen up, as well as providing smart responses, efficient display of information, and a button to immediately show favorite contacts.

The watch boasts an impressive retina display, laminated and hardened with sapphire, the hardest material after diamond. As well as sensing touch, the interface senses force, adding an additional dimension to the user experience – providing access to an entirely different range of controls. The audio is provided by a Taptic device inside of the watch itself, gently physically alerting the user to notifications, along with a water-resistant speaker for alerts. The heart of the watch is the S1 chip – an entire computer system on the inside of a watch.

The Apple Watch detects heart rate, steps, and activity, which allows the product to suggest goals based on daily activity levels. Upon completion, the user is awarded with badges. The watch itself is incredibly accurate, using multiple technologies, keeping accuracy to plus or minus 50 milliseconds.

There is a range of watch faces available, as well as customizable interfaces and the physical straps of the watch itself. There is a sports band, a leather band with concealed magnets for ease of adjustment, a classic leather buckled watch, a stainless steel bracelet, and a Milanese loop with a magnetic closure. Jony Ive acknowledged that “one size wouldn’t fit everyone,” and explained the availability of two watch sizes, and three watch versions. The original Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Sport, and the Apple Watch Edition. The sport Collection has a case that is 60% stronger than that of typical steel, and the Edition Collection boasts 18k gold.

Kevin Lynch then took the stage to deliver the very first live demo of the Apple Watch. He succinctly and confidently demonstrated the navigation of the watch using the digital crown, the touchscreen, and the haptics. The watch boasts an analog watch face, a watch face featuring the Earth and solar system, and many more. Personal control of music and calendar are also available. He then demonstrated how to haptically draw to send and receive text messages, send and receive heart rate, and communicate with notification prompts.

The Apple Watch and iPhone have been designed to seamlessly work together, updating each other on activity, sending emails, texts, and everything in between.

The Apple Watch will be available for purchase starting in early 2015 starting at $349 (US). It is compatible with iPhone 5, 5c, 6, 6s, and 6s Plus, or any phone running the latest version of iOS8. The Apple Watch is beautiful, functional, and something to enrich people’s lives. It is the most personal device Apple has ever created.
