Apple CEO Tim Cook Unveils Company’s New Product: The Apple Watch

CUPERTINO, California. (September 9, 2014) – Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, revealed Apple’s new product the Apple Watch to a large crowd in Cupertino, CA on Tuesday, Sept 9, 2014.

On the morning of the launch event for the iPhone 6, there was one more exciting product to share with the audience. Cook proudly described the Apple Watch as the most personal device Apple has ever created. The watch is synched with the universal time standard, customizable to personal style and taste, a new way to connect with others from your wrist, works seamlessly with the iPhone, and acts as a health and fitness device. Before moving into a detailed description of the Apple Watch and its many uses, a short video was shown, highlighting its various components up close and showcasing the different band colors. The crowd cheered with excitement at the innovation.

An important part of the design process for the company was ensuring the smooth transition to a breakthrough user interface. Cook emphasized that the watch is not just a smaller scale version of the iPhone, as the display would be too small to be used effectively. One of its key innovations is the Digital Crown, a navigation tool that allows users to zoom in, scroll, and return to the home screen without obstructing the display. The watch also includes technology that senses both touch and force, enabling different commands based on the app being used.

As for aesthetic and style choices, there are three distinct collections and six different watch band choices. Apple designer Jony Ive narrated the watch’s design story, highlighting the thoughtful craftsmanship and smooth transition to a wearable interface. The watch is available in three distinct collections: Apple Watch, crafted from a custom alloy of stainless steel; Apple Watch Sport, featuring a lightweight aluminum case and strengthened ion-exchange cover glass; and Apple Watch Edition, made from luxurious 18-karat gold that is twice as hard as standard gold. The first of the six interchangeable bands for the watch is the Sport Band which is durable, sweat-resistant elastomer offered in a range of bold colors. Second is the Leather Loop which is soft quilted leather with concealed magnets for a comfortable fit. Next is the Handcrafted Leather Modern Buckle band which closes with a solid metal clasp and wraps symmetrically around the wrist. Fourth is the Simple Leather Classic Buckle band which is inspired by traditional watches. Next is the Stainless Steel Link Bracelet which is a sleek, adjustable bracelet with a secure clasp. Finally is the Milanese Loop which is made of a flexible stainless steel mesh, has a magnetic closure, and is infinitely adjustable.

New Digital Touch feature allows users to communicate through sketches, gentle taps, or even the sensation of a heartbeat sent directly to their wrist. Smart replies, dictation, and emoji responses make messaging quicker. The device also introduces Glances, a feature that allows users to swipe through essential information such as upcoming calendar events, weather updates, etc. Notifications are felt as a gentle tap on the wrist.

A major new aspect with the watch is the Fitness App. It encourages users to sit less, move more, and get exercise through three activity rings. The Move Ring tracks calories burned and motivates users to stay active. This ring closes when you’ve hit your personal goal. The Exercise Ring measures physical activity and tracks progress toward the recommended 30 minutes of daily exercise. Finally, the Stand Ring reminds users to stand and move throughout the day to reduce sedentary time. The default goal is to stand for at least one minute in 12 different hours during the day. The Workout App provides real-time stats for activities like cycling, running, and walking. Users can set specific goals based on duration, calories burned, or distance traveled, with detailed summaries available post-workout. The Apple Watch syncs with the Health App on the iPhone, delivering personalized insights and fitness reminders to keep users on track.

When looking to the future, Kevin Lynch, Apple Vice President, described the opportunity for usage of third-party apps on the watch. He talked about the application “Watchkit” which is a way for these apps to become user friendly. Third-party apps would be able to send notifications, provide travel updates, and even offer unique functionalities like airline check-ins with a simple tap. This capability will open the door for endless possibilities in wearable technology. The watch will retail starting at $349 and become available for pre-sale purchase on April 10, 2015.

“New innovative intimate way to communicate directly from your wrist,” Cook said in closing. “And it’s a comprehensive health and fitness device, and it is so much more that we don’t have time to cover this morning.”

CUPERTINO, California. (Sept. 9th, 2014) –

Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the companies new Apple Watch which utilizes a brand new user interface to infuse it’s iPhone technology with a wrist watch on Tuesday.

The introductory video for the Apple Watch was met with a standing ovation by the audience at Apple’s WorldWide Developer Conference held at Apple Park, the companies HeadQuarters. In this video, Apple highlighted many features that grant users the ability to make each Apple Watch unique. Features include customizable layouts, a simple to use interface and interchangeable wristbands.

The Apple Watch, set for release in early 2015, will come in three different editions; Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition. With the release of their new product, Apple has continued its line of groundbreaking technology.

“It’s so simple and elegant, it’s something only Apple could do,” Cook said.

Cook and Vice President Kevin Lynch showed off the three main purposes of the Apple Watch. First, it functions as a fast and reliable time keeper with a clock that “is accurate within plus or minus 50 milliseconds,” Cook said. Second, the Apple Watch’s communication system has created a new and fun way to get in touch with friends. With the simple motion of your wrist, the user is able to view notifications and even respond to messages. Using the Quick Board feature, messages can easily be responded to with analyzed responses or silly emojis. Finally, Cook mentions its ability to work as a fitness band for all types of individuals. It is able to accomplish this through the two separate apps that come installed on the watch, the fitness and workout apps. With the Apple Watch, the potential for fitness growth is limitless.

“Apple builds great products that enrich people’s lives,” Cook said, “and arguably, we can take that to a whole new level with Apple Watch.”

Developers at Apple understood that a change would need to be made for the interface to be optimized for this new device. Instead of using your finger to scroll, Apple implemented a sleek dial on the side which they are calling the digital crown. This digital crown allows users to zoom in and out as well as navigate the user interface without blocking the user’s view of the screen. This proactive step of incorporating a more useful function to an everyday device like the dial on a watch, Apple proves they have spent deep thought on both form and function.

“It can be worn all day, for any occasion,” Cook said.

Jeremy Cowles uses a lathe to whittle down a piece of wood for a table project. Cowles uses his apple watch to play podcasts about wood working, keep in touch with family, and respond to calls while he is wood working.

Each user can make their Apple Watch unique, not just with the interface but with its six boldly unique types of straps. All of these straps, which come in many vibrant colors, can be easily interchanged with one another with a simple interlocking system. These bands can be used for function, with the user’s choice of a chemical resistant band or a leather buckle and stainless steel straps.

“Apple Watch is the most personal device Apple has ever created,” Cook said.

The Apple watch will start at $349 upon its release. The Apple Watch will work with your iPhone, allowing the Apple Watch to pull up messages and allow responses. Due to this, the iPhone is necessary for use of the Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch comes with its magnetic charging cable which easily attaches to the back of the watch for charging. With its 18 hour battery life, the Apple Watch can last users all day and charge rapidly overnight.  The Apple Watch comes in a 38 or 42 millimeter screen and comes in two separate finishes, stainless steel or space black.

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) – The Apple Watch is the first ever phone on your wrist. CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, introduced their new product on Thursday at De Anza College. “It is something functional, yet incredibly beautiful, it empowers people and enriches their lives. Apple Watch is the most personal device Apple has ever created,” Cook said. The device has several features that have never been seen before, such as a highly customizable interface, advanced fitness tracking, and an exceptionally durable design that is sure to last several years. Cook presented the many features of the Apple Watch to thunderous applause as many were excited to see Apple’s new product.

Apple describes the Apple Watch as one of the most personalized products to date. The clock, for example, has many different faces that can be customized and switched between. You can have a jellyfish swimming across your screen or see the solar system and their exact positions in real-time with the Astronomy face. Along with the time, there is other simple yet essential information, such as the weather, moon phases, and temperature, that can be customized as well.

The most revolutionary design feature of the Apple Watch is the Digital Crown. Not only does it keep the screen visible and clean, but it also makes zooming in and out, as well as precise adjustments, easy and clean. It also acts as the home button. Because of this, communication is easier than ever before. Quick board analyzes messages and provides fast messages you might want to send back. With Digital Touch, you can send personalized messages to another person, even your own heartbeat.

Professional Triathlete Caleb Royster uses the new Apple Watch to track his lap times. This displays one of the many functionalities of the Watch.

Apple Watch comes with several unique features that separate it from other products. The Watch provides haptic feedback, meaning you will be notified of anything on your watch via vibrations. It can also sense force, meaning it can differentiate between a tap and a press. A simple lift of the wrist and the watch can sense that you need to look at it, and just a swipe is all that is needed to navigate around the interface. It is also synchronized with the global time standard and accurate within a plus or minus 50-millisecond range.

“We think it’s going to help a lot of people live a better day and a healthier life,” Director of Health and Fitness Jay Blahnik talks about the Apple Watch’s new health-based apps, Fitness and Workout. Fitness provides three rings that you can complete and earn personal awards. The move ring tracks the calories burnt, the exercise ring tracks the amount of brisk activity, and the stand ring tells you when you should get up and move around. The Workout app can help keep track of specific exercises and more precise details, such as how far, fast, and long you have been doing an exercise.  Other health-based features of the Apple Watch include an accelerometer to measure total body movement, a sensor that tracks heart rate, and the watch uses GPS and Wi-Fi from your phone to record how far you have moved.

Apple Watch is made to be durable and comfortable for the user. With a flexible retina display laminated to a single crystal of sapphire, the watch is guaranteed to last through the harshest of summers to the coldest of winters. It also comes with 6 different band types that fit anyone’s liking.

Environmental photo basketball
Student at Indiana University, Issac Bright, tracks his calories and steps while playing basketball. The Apple Watch is where performance meets technology.

Upon release, there will be three different watch collections: the Apple Watch, the Sports Watch, and the Edition Watch, each in sizes of 38mm (about 1.5 in) and 42mm (about 1.65 in). The Apple Watch is a polished case made from a custom alloy of stainless steel, the Sports Watch is a light and durable ion-exchange cover glass, and the Edition Watch is made of 18-karat gold.

Apple was proud and excited to release its revolutionary project to the world in early 2015, with over 200 million people able to access it. It will be sold for $349, and will be compatible with the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus, the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5c, and the iPhone 5s.

CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, builds suspense as he reveals Apple’s new digital watch. Vice president of technology at Apple Inc., Kevin Lynch, gives a demo of the Apple Watch, displaying its functionality.

CUPERTINO, California. (Sept. 9,2014)- During the morning of September 9th widely known Apple CEO Tim Cook left listeners in the Flint Center for the Performing Arts hanging on the edge of their seats as he hinted at the New Innovation. As listeners gasped, Tim Cook eagerly displayed a highly insightful showcase which revealed to the listeners the reasoning of Tims excitement- The Apple Watch.

To break into the specs of the Apple Watch Cook shares with his listeners the in-depth thinking that went into creating a smartwatch that would not only be technologically advanced but also cover the need for navigating technology with ease as well as in style. He reveals that with each product that Apple has created a breakthrough in user interface was needed. We were then introduced to the new technology of the “digital crown”. Cooke explained that the new Apple watch will include “Infrared LEDs and photodiodes that translate rotary movement into digital data”. However, one does not need to understand the full meaning of that-in simple terms Apple reveals when you turn the digital crown it allows for you to do simple things like zooming in and out as well as scrolling through text all while avoiding blocking the screen with your fingertips. On top of this with a yet again simple click of the digital crown you are navigated right back to your home screen. Following this reveal Cook queued in a fellow designer to give an insight to how Apple has yet again improved not only the physical technology but also its digital technology.

This student uses Apple Watch to stay organized, set study timers, and achieve their study goals one notification at a time.

Johnny Ive, a Senior Design VP at Apple, takes us through yet another showcase of the Apple Watch which allowed the viewers to get a physical insight to the new innovation. Ive begins by stating “Were introducing an unparalleled level of technical innovation combined with a design that connects with the wearer at an intimate level to both embrace individuality and inspire desire”.  Through the usage of Smart reply dictation the Apple watch allows for you to swiftly respond to text messages on the go as well as glances allow for you to productively swipe through information. However, it does not stop there through digital touch users are now able to connect through creative interactions-perhaps you would like to send your friend a quick sketch or step further into personal effects and send your own heartbeat. Each of these features are easily accessible through the Apple Watch offering personable experiences that most smartwatches and technology avoid all through a flexible retina display on a single crystal of sapphire. While the watch may be small enough to fit onto your wrist Ive explained that it is practically an “entire computer system onto a single chip” covered by a zirconia back with four sapphire lenses with infrared visible light LEDs and photo sensors. These lenses allow for Apple to then break into the health sector of this Smartwatch starting with pulse rate. An in-depth profile of the user’s daily activity can be created through the usage of the gyroscope providing fitness goals and milestones. To personalize it even further Apple provides a broad range of watch faces as well as their capability beyond the interface-six different interchangeable straps.

The masseuse tracks appointment times in real time on her Apple Watch, ensuring every guest gets a relaxing moment while she manages her busy schedule.

Vice president Kevin Lynch provides a Live demo of the Apple Watch further introducing glances. Glances allows for you to choose information to be displayed to you at a quick swipe of the watch from things such as built in apps and 3rd party apps arranged to your liking. While swiftly going through messages Apple has also created a quick board allowing for even swiffer responses to texts through analysis providing responses that are personable to you as well as your conversation. As we all know and love Siri that has been in the Apple product known as the iPhone she is also available in the Apple Watch allowing you to ask her any and every question that comes to mind. Lynch concludes with the feature of the Watchkit a integrated experience that allows for developers to create in depth notifications from 3rd party apps as well as creative glances.

As if the Apple Watch seemed to already have it all, Cooke enlightens us with one last feature-Health and fitness. Through collaboration with Jay Blahnik the Director of Fitness, Health Technologies an important new era to Apple was created providing aid to all goals and fitness levels with two new applications. The fitness app monitors daily activity and movement extending into the workout app allowing for more specified goals in things such as running or even cycling for the more active users. An accelerometer is used to measure your total body movement as well as a sensor that measures intensity through your heart rate. Complete with GPS and navigation systems to track distance while providing direction.

The Apple watch is undoubtedly a large innovative leap into the capabilities of the smart watch. Through a sleek flexible retina display Apple provides it all with top-of-the-line technology adding personable features providing style and inclusivity. Redefining the simplicity of a watch one feature at a time.

APPLE REVEALS APPLE WATCH SET TO HIT SHELVES IN 2015

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) – Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the new Apple Watch, in a Sunday press conference.

After unveiling their plans for the newest iPhone, the 6 and 6 plus, Cook introduced another project the company had been working on, something he claims is different from their past releases.

“We have one more thing…” Cook said before the watch’s introduction, “…it is the next chapter in Apple’s story.”

In making the watch, Cook mentioned customization and convenience were kept in mind. The company wanted to make an everyday product that could be worn and used in any situation.

As a result, the Apple Watch is made from stainless steel, with an option to be available in black. Each finish has two sizes, a smaller 38mm and a larger 42mm. Six unique straps are available to purchase with the watch, and are made for both sizes.

Man wearing Apple Watch
Man wearing his Apple Watch. He enjoyed the customizable size of the product.

In regards to what services the watch includes, a demonstration was made by Kevin Lynch, the product’s project leader, to explain the possible features.

Customization settings allows wearers to choose the device’s home screen layout, clock function and the watch’s face design. Rolling the crown, the round button on the right, lets users change these details. Zoom-in features are made easier with the crown, although touchscreen is available. Users tap the face to open apps, and swipe to change screens like the iPhone. The glance feature, swiping up, shows users their personal bookmarked services.

The Apple Watch needs an iPhone to properly work, and all iPhone 5 and 6 versions are compatible. Any information shown on the Apple Watch, transfers to the iPhone through bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. New applications available for the iPhone, such as Apple Pay touch-less payment, will be available on the Apple Watch.

Apple’s other original apps are accessible on the watch with new features. In the demonstration, Lynch showed viewers pre-written responses one can use in the iMessage app. In addition, Apple Maps is equipped with different vibrations to signal when the user should change direction. These were a few changes Apple made for consumer convenience, however more fitness services were shown.

The Apple Watch has various health features to encourage users to stay active. The fitness app tracks activity and movement, while the workout app helps users set goals.

The watch will also track a user’s vitals, such as their heart rate through built in sensors. The accelerometer and gyroscope record one’s vibrations and movement orientation. Overtime, the information will become stored, and give wearers more detailed health reports, and advice on improving their physical performance.

The durability of the watch, Cook elaborates, is also water resistant. One can wear it in the rain or to wash their hands. It is sweat friendly, and can be worn in most activities. The Apple Watch is beneficial for all living styles by withstanding the trudges of everyday life.

However, the Apple Watch has more features that must be experienced first hand.

“It’s amazing what you can do from your wrist”, Cook said, “It is so much more than we can cover this morning…the list of features is a mile long.”

If interested, the starting price is three-hundred and forty-nine dollars, and will be available early 2015. Once purchased, the box contains a USB power adapter, a sports band in one’s chosen size and an instruction manual describing its services. In addition, the charger provided is magnetic, and will attach to the back of the watch’s face.

“It empowers people and enriches their lives. Apple Watch is the most personal device Apple has ever created,” Cook said in a final statement.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveils revolutionary new Apple Watch

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA, Sep. 9. Unveiled last Tuesday, Tim Cook introduced the Apple Watch, a revolutionary piece of technology described as Apple’s most intimate product. The watch is a first of its kind in the world of smart watches and promises functions that would normally only be available on a standard iPhone. Cook was overwhelmed with joy when announcing the watch saying that it had been in development for years up to this point. The watch promised to have such functions as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a microphone to make calls, and the ability to text your friends. Cook made sure to highlight the digital crown on the watch that acts as the equivalent of the home button on the iPhone. Cook stating that “the crown includes infrared LED’s and diodes that translate rotary movement into digital data.” Once again, the Apple Watch showed its uniqueness compared to the rest of the market as Cook made sure to hammer home that this was a function that really separated the Apple Watch from its competitors.

Apple launched their latest product, the Apple Watch, which showcased advanced features comparable to the iPhone. This Indiana University student found his new Apple Watch helpful in completing his school work.

Next, Cook brought up a video narrated by Jony Ive, Senior VP of Design for Apple. Ive made sure to make it very clear it the audience in Cupertino how personal the Apple Watch was going to be. Saying “we’ve designed a range of products so personal; you don’t put it on your desk, you wear them on your wrist.” Ive also made sure to talk more about the digital crown saying that the most important part of the crown is that you can use it without disturbing the screen on the watch. Another major part of the watch is its use of taptic feedback to make sure the watch isn’t just focused on what you see but what you feel and what you hear. This is just another part of this watch that has separated it from the rest of the smart watch pack when it comes to functionality. When Ive talked to the crowd through video it was easy to tell how passionate he and the Apple team really were about this product.

The latest Apple Watch assisted this 29 year old man in staying productive even during his lunch break. With advanced features for messaging, health tracking, and task management, it’s the perfect tool on the go.

The next part of the presentation had Cook bring out vice president of Apple, Kevin Lynch to talk more about what people could expect from the Apple Watch upon its incoming release. While both Cook and Ive went into information about the watch before Lynch, this part of the presentation focused much more on the specifics of the watch. Lynch went into more detail about the taptic technology and how that would be used specifically for notifications people would get when using the watch. The watch also was revealed to have mostly the same apps as its iPhone counterpart with Lynch going into depth about how to text, call, and use apps such as Twitter, Watch Kit, and Pinterest. Once again, the Apple Watch proved how it was nothing like its smart watch counterparts by showing its capability of being able to use apps that would normally only be able to used on iPhones and iPads.

Finally, Cook came back out on stage to go through the final most important parts of the watch. The Apple Watch, while having all these other functions, is still being marketed as a smart watch and Cook made sure to show things that would be commonplace on other smart watches but are improved on the Apple Watch. The fitness and workout apps were shown to be the main apps for tracking peoples activeness during the days. The workout app was shown to be able to create specific workouts for people to do and also be able to track what a person might work on throughout the day. Cook then showed how the watch was able to work well with not only the iPhone 6 line but also the iPhone 5 line as well. To cap off the magical night in Cupertino Cook revealed the Apple watch would cost $349 and was to be released in early 2015.

Apple revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Today, Apple leads the world in innovation with iPhone, iPad, the Mac and Apple Watch. Apple’s three software platforms — iOS, OS X and watchOS — provide seamless experiences across all Apple devices and empower people with breakthrough services including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay and iCloud.

Tim Cook enthusiastically introduces a revolutionary new Apple product in the form of a hi-tech smartwatch. Not only does the watch contain many features but can appeal to viewers with its slick design.

Nearing the end of the presentation, he appeared both animated and excited; Cook announced “One More Thing”. He sprang into a brief explanation, describing and introducing the new product. Cook did this somewhat vaguely, yet his explanation was followed by a video showcasing the Apple Watch in its full glory. During this video we as an audience were shown that the Apple Watch features a brand-new innovative design. An imperative aspect to this design is the “Digital Crown,” This is a traditional watch feature, turned into innovation. The digital crown is the core of the product. The digital crown is to the apple watch as the human finger is to the iphone. The digital crown is a scroll type mechanism that the user will operate to toggle from feature to feature on the watch. It is a simple, easy to use function that is completely unique to the Apple watch. The digital crown is a jocose nod to watches of the past. The digital crown took a previously known feature of an analog watch, and turned it into something entirely new, while still respecting and recognizing watches of the past. The what was once known, traditional scroll wheel on the side of every watch is now the key navigation tool for the Apple Watch. A huge benefit of the digital crown feature is the fact that it prevents the apple watch screen from being obstructed by the human finger. This is especially important due to the incredibly small size of this new digital watch screen.

Health and wellness have not necessarily been associated with watches of the past. However, this is a notion that the Apple watch may be challenging. One of the Apple watches’ most prominent new features is its health and wellness tracking. These features are in full view on the watch, and they are incredibly easy to access, which is a huge game changer for those looking to frequently access information regarding their day to day health and wellness. One of the ways these health and wellness features operate is based on the Apple watches infrared technology. The infrared technology detects your heart rate at all times. Other technical elements of the health and wellness tracking are the heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and gyroscope. These detections are 100% easily accessible to the user.

The Apple Watch is seen in action. This is one of the first times we have seen the Apple Watch on a human wrist.
The fitness features of the Apple Watch include exercise tracking. The new watch is capable of tracking running, walking, and heart rate.

The lack of size variety in the watch market is an issue that is being tackled by the Apple watch.  The release of the apple watch itself is incredibly impressive and notable to watch consumers. There is a plethora of convenient never before seen features that come along with this new watch, and in addition to all of these cutting edge new features, there is now a simple luxury of size variety as well. This simple luxury is somewhat overlooked in Cook’s presentation. He did not dwell too much on this aspect of the product’s release, especially in comparison to some of the watches other features, like the digital crown or the health and wellness qualities. The option of a smaller or larger size is incredibly well received by consumers, and has granted apple praise among a variety of watch purchasers.

CUPERTINO, California (Sept. 9, 2014) — Apple CEO Tim Cook has unveiled Apple’s most personal device yet in the Apple Watch, with features designed to create a customizable, stylish, and powerful experience that hasn’t been possible before in any product on the market today.

“We have been working incredibly hard for a long time on an entirely new product,” Cook said. “We believe that this product will redefine what people expect from its category.”

The video displayed after Cook’s introduction showed off a sleek, modern design for the Apple Watch with easily customizable elements that will make for a unique, stylish experience for any user. Cook, wearing the watch himself, emphasized the importance of the functional user interface that will allow for an enjoyable and easy user experience. A standout feature regarding this is the digital crown, or the dial that doubles as a button on the side of the watch to allow for scrolling, zooming, returning to the homescreen, and other uses that are infinitely easier than if users were forced to tap and pinch to control the screen.

Jony Ive, the Senior Vice President of Design for Apple, then presented the features included in the Apple Watch to make it both fashionable and functional for all users, as well as Apple’s motivations for doing so.

“It’s driven Apple from the beginning, this compulsion to take incredibly powerful technology and make it accessible, relevant and ultimately personal,” Ive said.

Ive spoke on the impressive accuracy of the Apple Watch’s timekeeping abilities, staying with 50 milliseconds of true time at all times, as well as the range of watch faces that allow for a chic and personal time-telling experience. Beyond watch faces, the Apple Watch is uniquely modifiable through its 6 strap types that can be effortlessly swapped out at any time. With this range of straps, including the sport band, leather loop, leather modern buckle, simple leather classic buckle, stainless steel link bracelet, and milanese loop, all users can find a style that fits their personality and needs.

Beyond the straps and watch faces, the Apple Watch itself has a range of styles that can fit each user’s personal goals and priorities. The Apple Watch has three distinct collections, the first of which is the Apple Watch, made from a custom alloy of stainless steel. The Apple Sport collection is made to be 60% stronger than a normal alloy without being bulky or heavy. The Apple Watch Edition is made from 18-carat gold designed to be twice as strong as normal. The ability to mix-and-match as you please between the range of options available with the Apple Watch will allow all users to prioritize what they want and easily adapt their Watch to fit that.

After displaying the design of the Apple Watch, Vice President Kevin Lynch came up to demonstrate the innovative capabilities of the Watch. The Apple Watch’s watch faces can be customized on the watch itself to allow for important information to be displayed, as well as Glances allowing for users to swipe to get more relevant information throughout their day. The Apple Watch also is linked with the iPhone so as to notify the user through a tap on the wrist whenever a notification comes through, allowing for a private yet unmistakable reminder that users can then check by lifting their wrist watch to see. A feature that Lynch was particularly proud of was the Digital Touch feature, which allows users to send taps, drawings, or even their actual heartbeat to another user through the use of the combined Apple Watches. Finally, Lynch explained how Apple has given third-party developers the ability to expand the Apple Watch’s capabilities through WatchKit, which will allow companies to develop apps for the Watch beyond what is already available.

Cook then came back to present the health and fitness capabilities present within the Apple Watch, which comes with both a Fitness app to monitor all activity throughout the day and a Workout app to monitor specific workouts. The Watch has a plethora of features designed to track health, including an accelerometer for total body movement, sensors on the bottom of the Watch to track one’s heart rate, and a GPS to determine distance traveled. The Fitness app specifically tracks calories burned, amount of exercise, and the amount of times one has stood per hour throughout the day to measure health, and the Workout app can allow users to go for time, calories, or distance.

The Apple Watch has a plethora of features designed to track and improve the user’s overall health, including a Fitness app to track overall activity for a day and a Workout app to track specific, focused exercise sessions.

“We think it’s gonna help a lot of people live a better day and a healthier life,” Cook said.

The Apple Watch is set to be released in early 2015 and will be priced starting at $349. It will be compatible with the iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, 6, and 6 Plus and is charged through inductive charging using a magnet that will also be sold through Apple.

Tim Cook speaks on the Apple Watch’s purpose as a personal, accurate timekeeping device. The Apple Watch’s main purpose is to keep time, but additional applications allow it to also serve as a fitness tracker and communication device, among other things.

Cupertino, California (Sept. 9, 2014) – Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled their newest venture, the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch, Apple’s newest product with its most personalized technology, combines the communication aspects of an iPhone with the directional and time-telling aspects of a traditional watch.

One feature that makes the Apple Watch stand out from other watches is its communicative abilities. Users can make and answer phone calls or send and receive text messages, without even having to carry their iPhones on them. Users can dictate their messages the same way they would on an iPhone with the Smart Replies feature. This provides convenience like never before.

Users can send unique messages from their Apple Watches, including their own heartbeat. They can also send voice memos through the Walkie Talkie features. They can even use the Digital Touch feature to send drawings to friends. They can customize their watch, so that their friends’ contacts are just one touch or click away, as they will be the first ones to pop up. This provides a unique experience separate from other Apple products.

The Apple Watch features a Digital Crown, a dial on the side of the watch to help users navigate their commands. It is comparable to the home button of an iPhone, and it is also a way for users to access the beloved Siri, Apple’s digital assistant. The Apple Watch is available in two different sizes, one that is 38mm and one that is 42mm.

“We thought not only of the function,” CEO Tim Cook said, “but also of the way it looked.” The Apple Watch has many different looks to appease many different audiences. There are many different watch bands, including the Sport Band, the Leather Loop, the Modern Buckle, the Link Bracelet, the Milanese Loop, and the Classic Buckle. Apple understands that this watch can be used in many different settings, and only offering one set watch band would not elevate the Apple Watch to its highest quality.

The Apple Watch also comes with 11 unique and different faces. From the classic analog clock face, to new and innovative faces, Apple has every user covered. The appearance of the Apple Watch faces are customizable, and can be personalized to a user’s individual liking. They can include a person’s activity statistics, their upcoming events of the day, the weather in their location, or even the current moon phases.

“Apple Watch, of course, is made to be worn,” said CEO Tim Cook, “and it can be worn all day, for any occasion.” Apple understands that many of its loyal customers have busy lives and are on-the-go, which is why Apple Watch has an Activity app to help with health tracking. The Activity app uses a built-in heart rate sensor, along with an accelerometer, to track activity. It is even able to measure calories burned. There is also a Workout app to help users achieve goals, and a Fitness app to track activity history and patterns.

Like Tim Cook said, the Apple Watch can really be used for any occasion, and that does not just mean for time telling, communicating, fitness, or directions. The Apple Watch accesses Apple Pay, helping users pay for groceries or new shoes with just the tap of a wrist. It also accesses tickets and boarding passes, so no need for users to worry about losing the important documents when going to the airport or a sporting event. When watching their Apple TV, users can turn the volume up or down and pause or play a program without even getting their remote out, as the Apple Watch also has a connected remote feature.

The Apple Watch will be available for users to buy in 2015. It will be updated to the newest iOS. Prices will begin at $349 USD.
