Delta Chi Fraternity is the latest Greek lettered organization that has been placed on suspension.

The suspension was a result of an investigation done by the university due to hazing allegations.

As a result, the fraternity’s annual philanthropy event, Miss Greek IU, was cancelled just days before the pageant was scheduled to happen.

Miss Greek IU contestant, Lauren Margi says, “It was definitely hard to hear kind of hear that news after the preparation, but we knew that this was nothing that he [Luke Hann] could control.”

Indiana University spokesperson, Chuck Carney released a statement saying, “Indiana University has informed members of the Delta Chi fraternity at IU Bloomington that it is on suspension.  The suspension stems from violations of the IU student code of conduct and the Greek Agreement regarding hazing. As a result of the suspension, Delta Chi has been directed to cease organizational activity and disband as a recognized student organization.”

The students living in the house on south Jordan Avenue will have to move out, however, the timetable for that process to begin has yet to be determined.

The university has placed the fraternity on a five-year suspension.

The fraternity is currently appealing the decision, according to a statement released by their international headquarters.

“After an investigation conducted by the Fraternity, the chapter was placed on corrective action in accordance with Delta Chi Law to begin the re-education and redevelopment of the Chapter and members,” said Ben Ely, Director of Communications and Publications.
