How Atlanta Beauticians Are Keeping Up With Covid

Atlanta beauticians Tiasia Garner and Breana Dufor found out their shop was closing indefinitely at the beginning of April.

Tiasia, who is a hairstylist,

and Breana, who is a makeup artist,

have been living together in Atlanta for the past two years. Not only are they roommates, but business partners as well. The two work at a beauty lounge named “Liit Lashes” which is a 5-minute drive from their home. Although COVID-19 has taken away their clients, it has not stopped their work.

Since the closing, the two have found alternative ways to keep the income and creativity flowing. Along with doing client’s hair, Tiasia makes and sells wigs for clients to have and wear for different occasions and long periods of time.

Since the stay-at-home order commenced, she has continued making wigs and is now doing that full-time until things get back to normal.

On the other hand, Breana has continued working on her “mannequin makeovers.” Before quarantine, she was slightly working on them, but rarely had time to commit fully. Now not only is she making over her own mannequins, but she is selling makeover mannequin heads to her clients as well.

Social distancing has definitely not been easy for the two, but by using these methods they are making sure to stay active. It also helps that the two are roommates because they are able to practice hair and makeup on each other, the perfect duo!

Roommates or business partners? Both! Breana and Tiasia are starting their brand “The Glam Squad.”

They are working on building their mobile tutorial services. The hair services will offer “how to hair” including, but not limited to, how to apply your wig at home, how to touch up your hair at home, tips for healthy natural hair, etc. The makeup services will offer everything from how to fill in your eyebrows, to how to apply liner and a cut crease, it’s the whole package. They plan to use their individual as well as joint instagram account to advertise these services.

If it weren’t for social media, COVID-19 might have put an end to their business as a whole.

The pair went from servicing multiple clients a day, to now only seeing each other. They said being stuck at home has been hard, especially when they have to drive right past their shop everyday, but they are eager to have this time to perfect and build their businesses.

The beauty lounge is set to open back up May 1st. Although the lounge will be open for business, the duo says they will not be accepting clients until mid May, for precautions.

Although the social distancing is very different from their everyday routines, they are thankful to be together as roommates, friends, and business partners.
