Jinchang is largely recovered after the coronavirus outbreak three months ago

Jinchang is a city in the northwestern part of China. With the coronavirus outbreak starting in China four months ago, Jinchang is nearly back to normal as compared to April.

On Jan. 26, the government of Jinchang announced to all of the residents that there was one confirmed case in Jinchang. At that time, the government prohibited people from going outside together with more than two people. All of the restaurants and many other businesses closed except for hospitals and supermarkets.
But at that time, the biggest festival for Chinese people, Chinese New Year was underway. In the past, people would go outside to celebrate and visit their relatives for more than one week.
But after people received the restrictions from government, all of the residents just stayed in. They gave up their biggest festival to protect themselves and their families.

During that period, all of the people who wanted to leave or enter Jinchang, all had to get the body temperature test. Police and others worked day and night to do the health checks.

On Jan. 31st, the government announced to residents that the only confirmed patient had recovered. But no residents relaxed their vigilance at that time. They just kept wearing masks when going outside and did not go to their relatives’ home.

Yumei Li, a graduate student from New York University,  came back to Jinchang in March. She went through the 14 day quarantine  in a hotel. Her life is back to  normal  in Jinchang now.
She said the first thing that came to her mind after the coronavirus outbreak in New York city was coming back to China.

She said China did a  good job of controlling the spread of coronavirus because they took action quickly.

Now in Jinchang, people can go outside for parties, and to sit-down restaurants. But that just happened one month ago after three months of restrictions.

Even today, you can see many people still wearing masks in the street and many families still cook most of their meals at home. For most of the Chinese people, nothing is more important than keeping themselves and their families healthy.
