Ever since IU senior Tyler Combs was a young boy, he and his family have watched the popular game show ‘Jeopardy’ every evening at exactly 7:30 PM.
He has always envisioned himself himself standing on the same stage with Alex Trebek as a contestant on the show.
What was once a childhood dream, became a reality for him.
It all started with an initial online test consisting of 50 questions over various different topics.
Then, it turned into an in-person audition and test in St. Louis to see if he was qualified to be a contested for the 2020 College Championship.
Around 18,000 people took the online test and only around 300 people were chosen to meet for the in-person audition.
Out of the 300 people who went through the long process, Tyler was one of the 15 lucky students who was chosen to be on the show.
Tyler has taken the online test many times over the years but has never gone beyond that point.
He says that receiving the phone call was a very surreal moment for him and that his family members were even more excited than he was to hear the news.
