On Tuesday, March 5th, IU Provost and Executive Vice President, Lauren Robel, gave her State of the Campus address at Presidents Hall. Her address outlined a strategic plan for academic excellence, faculty development, research and diversity.
She also highlighted academic departments and specific schools that are consistently being named best in the country. These included the Kelley School of Business, the Jacobs School of Music, the School of Education, the Maurer School of Law, along with many others in the College departments.
She recognized the IU School of Nursing students who visited patients in local Indiana communities and she also spoke about the IU Corps and why volunteering within the Bloomington community is so important. She continued to recognize the quick growth of the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies as well as the Media School and its new Michael Arnolt center for investigative reporting set to begin this fall.
Moving forward into IU’s Bicentennial year, IU seeks to grow according to three basic principles: Involved, Inclusive, and Innovative. The address was open to faculty, staff, students and the general public and was followed by a reception with light refreshments.
