I interned at Fox Sports Radio this semester. It was terrific to work with talented hosts such as Rob Parker and Chris Broussard on “The Odd Couple” and see what really goes into planning and executing a national sports radio show.
Recording, editing and uploading the podcast was also a great learning experience, and it taught me a lot about what to include in a “best-of” podcast.
The producer and technical producer I worked with helped me learn the system, and it was a ton of fun hanging out with them in the control room. The segment appears on “The Odd Couple” podcast titled “Cole Hard Cash.”
As someone who wants to have a primarily on-air career, it was a terrific experience. I have done radio in Bloomington for WIUX, but the scale of “The Odd Couple” was on a different level. Plus, my whole family got to listen to me try to defend my takes.
Being on-air to so many people, however briefly it lasted, was a terrific experience and a great jumpstarting point to my broadcasting career.
