A city of opportunity

My experience in L.A. has been life-changing, to say the least.

Prior to this trip, I felt like I didn’t have much going on for me. Whether that be professionally or socially, I felt unfulfilled. The application process for this program provided a great opportunity, an opportunity to give myself a goal: to get accepted and then to find an internship.

This trip has been emblematic of what L.A. is: a city of opportunity. I kept finding myself saying, “Wow, I can’t believe this is happening.” I felt for the first time in at least a while that I was meeting new and great people, getting exciting work opportunities and learning so much about life and the entertainment industry. It felt as though I was getting everything I was working for, and it was a great feeling.

Diving into such a bustling city can be fun, but it can also be stressful and make the time go by fast. My advice to future participants is to enjoy every moment and just go with the flow. There will be so many things to do and people to meet, so try to have an open mind.

I’m so thankful for all the friends, coworkers and teachers who helped change my life. There’s just so much life to be had here, and while it may not be for everyone, it’s something worth experiencing.

It’s hard to believe that had I not applied to this program, I would’ve missed out on such an amazing opportunity. I feel confident in my abilities and my major more than ever before, and it all started with taking the first step and applying.
