Field Notes: The Media School Travel Blog

During the Chicago Career Trek, I visited Reuters. Before I went, I really did not know anything about the news organization.

I learned that Reuters is a worldwide organization. People all across the globe are working together to report on topics ranging from agriculture to crime to more general news.

It was my first experience in a newsroom, so it was cool to see how everything operated. There were TVs mounted everywhere so the journalists could keep up with their news as they worked. I did not realize journalists operated as such a team until my visit to Reuters. It was fascinating hearing all the journalists talk about their work.

Reuters seems like an ideal work location. The energy from the different journalists was great, and it was nice to be surrounded by people that love what they do. Seeing everything in person certainly increased my interest in journalism.
