Freshman Karen Cheng vlogs about her experience on the Chicago Career Trek.
For me, the biggest highlight of our Chicago trip was touring WGN, a Chicago news station that has been around for years and has had a big impact on Chicago.
While touring the studio, I noticed it was a very simple and humble studio set filled with people who are passionate about their jobs. The IU alumna who gave us the tour told us that while the studio might not be huge and fancy, the news they report on is real news that people work hard to investigate and report.
The students on the tour could possibly be looking for jobs in places like WGN and may have to decide whether to value fancy studios or being able to report on news with substance. Overall, we received a lot of good advice about careers.
