Through the storyboards at Titmouse
Freshman Kate O'Brien and the Media LLC tour an animation studio.
What started as a simple and meditative game, Dots — now Dots&Co — has grown into a mobile game production studio with more than 60 employees and 100 million users.
During our tour, we witnessed the warm and calming work environment of Dots&Co. The highlight of the visit was sitting down in a conference room, with ideas and drawings from current work still scribbled on the walls, and speaking to the members of the team behind Dots. They were more than willing and excited to answer questions ranging from programming and interface design to the history of the studio and marketing approaches they take, even to the extent of offering advice to those of us interested in working for the industry in our futures.
With the team’s ambition and easily approachable style, this is any student’s first job/internship dream. I now have a better understanding of the smaller companies in the broader gaming industry, and a much greater appreciation for how they work and the effort they put toward ensuring their fans’ satisfaction.
